The Ministry of Education established 9 Regional Correspondence Schools between 1984 and 1990. These schools subsequently became Distance Education Schools. The South Central Interior Distance Education School was established in 1990 to serve parents, students and the school districts of the southern interior of the province. SCIDES is an accredited B.C. Public School, as such it meets the same program and delivery requirements of all other public schools in the province.
